about me Being creative has always been a big part of my life. It's not something I do, but rather who I am. It's interwoven into my being and how I live my life. I recognize that God has given me this gift, and my desire is to use it in a way that helps others express themselves, learn and grow.
I graduated from Calvin College with a Bachelor's Degree of Fine Art in 1990. I went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Art Therapy from Pratt Institute in 1993. With my art therapy degree, I worked at an AIDS hospice before moving on to work at a psychiatric hospital in New Jersey. During this time I became a Registered and Board Certified art therapist, and earned my art teaching certification. After working with adults for many years, I decided to take the leap into public education. I taught art K-5 in Naples Florida, and then returned to NJ to provide art therapy and art education in the Jersey City Public School District. It was here that I planted my roots and allowed my creative spirit to bloom over 19 years. In July of 2019, I chose to take an early retirement from Jersey City, and moved with my husband and puppy to Venice Florida. I am ready and excited to start this new chapter in my life. I plan on developing my own art, as well as offering classes locally. My desire is to create, learn, grow, and share on this wonderful journey called life. |
